Cerita Kancil dan Gembala dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Artinya

The Mouse Deer and the Shepherd

There was once a mouse deer who lived near a village. He often went to the village to look for food. He liked to eat the vegetables that the villagers planted in their gardens.

One day, he saw a shepherd taking his sheep to the pasture. The mouse deer thought, “Those sheep look so fat and juicy. I wonder if I can trick them and eat them.”

He followed the shepherd and the sheep until they reached a grassy field. The shepherd sat under a tree and played his flute, while the sheep grazed on the grass.

The mouse deer approached the sheep and said, “Hello, my friends. Do you know who I am?”

The sheep looked at him and said, “No, we don’t. Who are you?”

The mouse deer smiled and said, “I am the king of the forest. All the animals obey me and fear me. Even the shepherd respects me and listens to me.”

The sheep were surprised and said, “Really? You are the king of the forest? But you are so small and weak. How can you be the king of the forest?”

The mouse deer said, “Don’t judge me by my appearance. I have a secret power that makes me the king of the forest. Do you want to see it?”

The sheep were curious and said, “Yes, we want to see it. What is your secret power?”

The mouse deer said, “My secret power is that I can make the shepherd do whatever I want. Watch this.”

He then shouted to the shepherd, “Hey, shepherd! Stop playing your flute and come here!”

The shepherd heard the mouse deer and thought, “What is that mouse deer doing here? He must be trying to steal my sheep. I better chase him away.”

He put down his flute and ran towards the mouse deer with a stick.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He is coming to me. He will do whatever I say. Now, I will tell him to leave us alone and let me eat you.”

He then shouted to the shepherd, “Hey, shepherd! Leave us alone and let me eat your sheep!”

The shepherd heard the mouse deer and thought, “What? He wants to eat my sheep? How dare he? I will teach him a lesson.”

He raised his stick and tried to hit the mouse deer.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He is raising his stick. He will hit himself and not me. Watch this.”

He then dodged the stick and ran behind the shepherd.

The shepherd missed the mouse deer and hit himself on the head.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He hit himself and not me. He is so stupid. Now, I will tell him to go away and never come back.”

He then shouted to the shepherd, “Hey, shepherd! Go away and never come back!”

The shepherd heard the mouse deer and thought, “What? He wants me to go away and never come back? He is so rude. I will not let him get away with this.”

He turned around and tried to catch the mouse deer.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He is turning around. He will run away and not catch me. Watch this.”

He then ran past the shepherd and towards the sheep.

The shepherd followed the mouse deer and tried to grab him.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He is following me. He will run into the sheep and not grab me. Watch this.”

He then jumped over the sheep and ran to the other side.

The shepherd ran into the sheep and fell down.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He ran into the sheep and fell down. He is so clumsy. Now, I will tell him to stay down and not get up.”

He then shouted to the shepherd, “Hey, shepherd! Stay down and don’t get up!”

The shepherd heard the mouse deer and thought, “What? He wants me to stay down and not get up? He is so bossy. I will not listen to him.”

He got up and tried to chase the mouse deer again.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He is getting up. He will trip over the grass and not chase me. Watch this.”

He then ran across the field and towards the forest.

The shepherd stumbled over the grass and fell down again.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He stumbled over the grass and fell down again. He is so foolish. Now, I will tell him to give up and go home.”

He then shouted to the shepherd, “Hey, shepherd! Give up and go home!”

The shepherd heard the mouse deer and thought, “What? He wants me to give up and go home? He is so arrogant. I will not give up. I will catch him and make him pay.”

He got up again and tried to chase the mouse deer one last time.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He is getting up again. He will never catch me. I am the king of the forest. Now, I will tell him to say goodbye and bow to me.”

He then shouted to the shepherd, “Hey, shepherd! Say goodbye and bow to me!”

The shepherd heard the mouse deer and thought, “What? He wants me to say goodbye and bow to him? He is so crazy. I will not say goodbye. I will not bow. I will catch him and make him sorry.”

He ran faster and faster towards the mouse deer.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He is running faster and faster. He will crash into the tree and not catch me. Watch this.”

He then ran behind a big tree and hid.

The shepherd did not see the tree and crashed into it.

He fell down and fainted.

The mouse deer said to the sheep, “See? He crashed into the tree and fainted. He is so pathetic. I have won. I am the king of the forest. Now, I will eat you.”

He then came out from behind the tree and ran towards the sheep.

The sheep were scared and said, “No, please don’t eat us. You are not the king of the forest. You are a liar and a cheat. You tricked the shepherd and us. You are a bad mouse deer.”

The mouse deer said, “I don’t care. I am hungry and you are my food. I will eat you now.”

He then opened his mouth and tried to bite the sheep.

But before he could do that, he heard a loud roar.

It was the lion, the real king of the forest.

He had seen everything that the mouse deer had done.

He was angry and said, “How dare you, mouse deer? How dare you pretend to be the king of the forest? How dare you trick the shepherd and the sheep? How dare you try to eat the sheep? You are a bad mouse deer. You deserve to be punished.”

He then pounced on the mouse deer and caught him.

The mouse deer was terrified and said, “Please, don’t eat me. I am sorry. I was just joking. I was just having fun. Please, spare me.”

The lion said, “No, I will not spare you. You are not joking. You are not having fun. You are evil. You will pay for your crimes.”

He then opened his mouth and ate the mouse deer.

The sheep were relieved and said, “Thank you, lion. Thank you for saving us. You are the real king of the forest. You are good and wise. We respect you and obey you.”

The lion said, “You are welcome, sheep. You are my subjects. I will protect you and care for you. You can trust me and follow me.”

He then led the sheep to a safer place.

The shepherd woke up and saw the lion and the sheep.

He was confused and said, “What happened? Where is the mouse deer? Where are you going, sheep?”

The sheep said, “We are going with the lion. He is the king of the forest. He saved us from the mouse deer. The mouse deer was a liar and a cheat. He tried to eat us. The lion ate him instead. Goodbye, shepherd. We will not see you again.”

They then followed the lion and left the shepherd alone.

The shepherd was sad and said, “Oh, no. I have lost my sheep. I have been fooled by the mouse deer. He was a bad mouse deer. He deserved to be eaten by the lion. But I also deserve to be punished for being careless and foolish. I should have watched over my sheep and protected them. I should have not listened to the mouse deer and his lies. I have learned my lesson. I will never trust a mouse deer again.”

Singa berkata, “Sama-sama, domba-domba.
