The Mouse-deer and the Fox

Once upon a time, there was a clever mouse-deer who lived in the forest. He was always able to outwit the other animals with his cunning and intelligence. One day, he met a fox who wanted to eat him.

“Hello, mouse-deer. You look very delicious. I think I will make a meal out of you,” said the fox.

“Wait, fox. Don’t you know that I am the king of the forest? All the animals respect me and obey me. If you eat me, you will make them angry and they will attack you,” lied the mouse-deer.

“Really? You are the king of the forest? How can I believe you?” asked the fox, who was doubtful.

“Come with me, and I will show you,” said the mouse-deer.

The mouse-deer led the fox to a clearing where there was a big tree. He told the fox to hide behind the tree and watch. Then he went to the other side of the clearing and shouted, “Hello, animals of the forest! I am your king, the mouse-deer. I have come to visit you. Come out and greet me!”

The animals heard the mouse-deer’s voice and recognized it. They knew that he was a trickster who often fooled them. They decided to ignore him and stay in their hiding places. They did not want to be his victims again.

The fox saw that no animal came out to greet the mouse-deer. He realized that the mouse-deer was lying to him. He was angry and decided to catch him and eat him. He ran out from behind the tree and chased the mouse-deer.

The mouse-deer saw the fox coming and ran away. He was faster and more agile than the fox. He dodged the fox’s attacks and escaped to the river. He jumped into the water and swam to the other side. He looked back and saw the fox standing on the bank, frustrated and hungry.

“Ha ha ha, fox. You are so foolish. You believed my lie and wasted your time. Now you have lost your chance to eat me. Learn your lesson and never mess with me again,” taunted the mouse-deer.

The fox felt ashamed and humiliated. He had been outsmarted by the mouse-deer. He vowed to never trust the mouse-deer again. He turned around and walked away, looking for another prey.

The mouse-deer was proud and happy. He had escaped from the fox and saved his life. He continued to live in the forest and play his tricks on the other animals.

"Halo, kancil. Kamu terlihat sangat lezat. Saya pikir saya akan membuat makanan dari Anda," kata rubah.

"Tunggu, rubah. Apakah kamu tidak tahu bahwa aku adalah raja hutan? Semua hewan menghormati saya dan mematuhi saya. Jika kamu memakanku, kamu akan membuat mereka marah dan mereka akan menyerangmu," bohong kancil.

"Benarkah? Anda adalah raja hutan? Bagaimana aku bisa mempercayaimu?" tanya rubah, yang ragu.
